    RITA and the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board are collaborating to enable their digital systems to communicate and exchange information that will assist in the provision of loans to qualified applicants in a timely manner. Rita is expected to start digitally verifying Birth and Death Certificates earlier through the eRITA system. All students applying for higher education loans for the year 2024/2025 will be required to verify their Birth and Death Certificates before submitting their applications to the Loans Board.

    The verification window will officially open from July 15 to October 15, 2024, providing an opportunity for students to prepare and submit accurate application documents.

    Students in need are advised to visit and obtain accurate information through the websites and social media platforms of both RITA and the Loans Board during the verification of Birth and Death Certificates until the final stage of applying for Higher Education Loans.

    HESLB loan applicants must ensure that all birth/death certificates are certified by the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA), or Zanzibar Civil Status Registration Agency (ZCSRA) to ascertain their validity.     How to Register and Log in on the eRITA Portal for Birth/death Certificate Verification

    Rita has opened applications for certificate verification for applicants of the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) for the academic year 2024/25. Students applying for HESLB loans must verify their birth certificates online through eRITA Portal.

    To verify your certificate, you must be registered on the portal. Here is how to register yourself on RITA Online Birth Certificate Verification portal

    • Once the eRITA Portal website home page opens click on the  Register an account Button to start registration
    • Start the registration process by entering all the required details such as, first name, Middle name, Surname, Sex, Nationality, Email, Mobile no, Password and click on the register button to complete your registration.

    • An email with instructions to activate your account will be sent to your email address.
    • Click the link sent to your email address to activate your account.
    • From there your account will be successfully registered and activated
    • Once your account has been successfully activated you will be able to login inti your account using your email and password you created by cliking the Sign in button

    Step-by-Step Guide to Verifying Birth Certificates Through eRITA’s Portal

    After completing the registration of your account, the next step is to submit requests to verify your certificates in the system. The following is the Step-by-Step Guide to Verifying Birth Certificates Through eRITA’s portal.

    • Login on the portal using your credentials.
    • Once you are logged in navigate to the Birth Services section if your verifying birth certificate and Death Services for death certificates verification
    • On the  Birth Services section click the Birth applications link
    • A new window will popup click or select the Request Verification
    • Another window will open , Enter your verification information such as names, date of birth, entry number district of birth, region and the reason for verification (Your reason must be loan board) as shown on the form and Click continue

    • You will be moved to the next stage where you will be required to upload certificate Attachments and click continue
    • After uploading your certificate, you will be moved to the declaration page to confirm your details and accept the terms and conditions before completing, clicking the next button will create  your payment control number for payment.
    • Once your Payment Control no is ready, you will be required to make a payment of TZS 6,000.00 to complete your Verification Request.
    • Once you have made your payment and your application has been received it will take up to 5-10 working days to process your application. There will be no refund if your application doesn’t meet terms and conditions

    It is recommended to regularly check your account to know the verification status of your certificate. Once your certificate is successfully verified you will receive a verification code that you will used during HESLB Loan Application
