AboutKaratu Health Training Institute
The Karatu Health Training Institute was established in 2012 with the aim of Providing Health Programmes. Since its inception, the institute has been enrolling students mostly from different part of Tanzania.
The School has been running a 2 years Certificate programs in Nursing and clinical Medicine during its establishment. Following the current reforms in Health Training, this program is now a three years Nursing program offering an Ordinary Diploma at National Technical Awards (NTA Level 6) and 3 year Clinical Medicine Ordinary Diploma at National Technical Awards (NTA level 6).
This Institute is registered by National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) which is registering body for all technical institution with registration Number REG/HAS/113.
Within a learning environment, learner will acquire knowledge, Professional Competencies and attitude. The training is conducted in NTA levels semesterized modules, whereby one academic year consist of two semesters

LOCATION
The Karatu Health Training Institute (KHTI) is located at Karatu District in Arusha Region where it is 5 km from Karatu Town and it is 1km away from Ngorongoro to Arusha road.
COURSES OFFERED
The goals of these program are to equip the students with competence based skills like appropriate knowledge attitude and professional skill/ competencies in order to provide comprehensive and effective quality health services that meet the need of individuals, family and society or community at large.
Courses offered include the following.
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine ( 3 years Programme)
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwives ( 3 years Programme)
CLINICAL MEDICINE
The diploma in clinical medicine is a Three years program which has been developed to suite the needs of government commitment to improve Health care provision, labor markets demand, legal and professional needs that exist in our country. Its one of the initiative done by the government to modernize qualification within the health sector and disciplines. It is therefore, expected that the graduates from the program with aspirations become full professionals.
NURSING AND MIDWIFERY
The Karatu Health Institute has Department of Nursing with the capacity of enrolling 50 students per academic year. the admission process is September intake for each academic year. Theory courses are conducted within the campus whereby students are allocated to hospital department and community for practical experience with Karatu district and its vicinity. Karatu health Training institute provides three years ordinary diploma in Nursing. After completion of the study they will be registered by the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council and Assistant Nurse Officer (ANO.)
