Teofilo Kisanji University, popularly known as ‘TEKU’ . TEKU is owned by Moravian Church in Tanzania. It is relatively new university, having been established in 2006 and originating from a Moravian Theological College (MOTHECO) which was established in 1960.

The university’s thrust thus is to produce graduates that are well grounded in academics as well as being highly responsible and committed citizenry. The University has an excellent learning environment, with almost all the requisite infrastructure including laboratories well furnished with necessary equipment to enable students to study comfortably; a modern library stocked with up-to- date books and e-books; state of the art ICT facilities; and fully furnished hostels.

In addition, TEKU has highly skilled academic and administrative staff, a factor that has enabled the university to be run efficiently all the time since its inception in 2006. The availability of the above mentioned facilities allows TEKU to fulfill its mandate effectively and efficiently. Specifically, TEKU’s major functions are training, research and consultancy and we are committed to producing quality graduates at certificate, diploma and degree level who are competent and of high integrity. This calls for all students who join TEKU to ensure that they work hard to achieve their goals and the Nation’s goal of producing quality graduates who will contributes effectively to the development of this nation and the world at large.

The university has also taken necessary steps to practically support the Tanzanian Government’s intention of making country have medium economic development through industrialization. In realizing this goal, TEKU has equipped itself in increasing opportunities for science programs. The University has added the laboratory facilities to enable the conduction of science programs. The Chemistry Laboratory, Biology Laboratory, Physics Laboratory and Nursing Skills Laboratory has been duly improved there by enabling the University to offer BSc with Education, BSc in Environmental Studies and Certificate and Diploma in Nursing.
