AboutCCBRT (Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania)
Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) is a non-governmental organization established in 1994 in Tanzania. It operates primarily in Dar es Salaam and Moshi, focusing on providing specialized healthcare services. CCBRT collaborates with the Tanzanian government to offer free and subsidized services to low-income Tanzanians, covering a range of medical areas. These include ophthalmology, orthopedics and physical rehabilitation, plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery, as well as maternal, newborn, and child health, which encompasses care for conditions like fistula.
CCBRT’s mission extends beyond just healthcare provision; it is dedicated to preventing disability, offering affordable medical and rehabilitative services, and empowering people with disabilities and their families. This aligns with their broader goal of serving the community and the most vulnerable, ensuring equal quality of treatment for all patients. They achieve this by providing specialized health services at subsidized rates and running various development programs.
As the largest indigenous provider of disability and rehabilitation services in Tanzania, CCBRT includes a well-established disability hospital in Dar es Salaam and various community programs. This widespread network enables them to have a significant impact on healthcare and disability services in the region.
