UDA Rapid Transit PLC (UDART) is a company incorporated in Tanzania under the company’s Act cap 212 R. E 2019 on 19th December 2014 with the certificate of incorporation number 113954. UDART is the Transitional Bus Service Operator for phase 1 of the DART system in Dar es Salaam, fetching at an average of 165,000 passengers a day.

UDART is now seeking qualified Automobile Engineers and Automobile Technicians to serve UDA Rapid Transit PLC Buses.

Job title: Automobile Technician ( 3 Positions)

The Job descriptions:

• Raise vehicles, using hydraulic jacks, moving or lifting equipment.
• Unbolt and remove wheels from vehicles and Remount wheels onto vehicles
• Install vehicle parts or accessories using lug wrenches or other hand or power tools.
• Remove parts or components from vehicles
• Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels.
• Rotate tires to different position on vehicle, using hand tools
• Identify tire size and ply and inflate tires accordingly
• Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects
• Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles.
• Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures, using hand tools.
• Buff defective areas of inner tubes, using scrapers
• Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply
• Glue tire patches over ruptures in tire casings, using rubber cement
• Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding, or sandblasting.
• Reassemble tires onto wheels
• Reassemble equipment after repair
• Clean and tidy up the workshop and work areas.
• Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects
• Any other duties as you may be assigned by your superior.

Qualification Required:

• A Holder of Diploma in Automobile / Mechanical / Automotive or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Working Station: Dar es Salaam

Language Skill: The applicant should be conversant with both Kiswahili and English Language.
