I – Hierarchical relationship
The Outreach Worker will report directly to the Harm Reduction Program Manager.
II – Global objective of the position
The Outreach Worker will primarily be responsible for the management of the Peer Educators, data verification in the designated area of cover.
III – Tasks and responsibilities
- Participates in the identification and selection of peer educators and study participants.
- Supervises Peer Educators through field visits.
- Hold meetings with Peer educators and the community.
- Supports Peer Educators in developing weekly activity plans and follows up on the implementation.
- Analyses data and plans problem solving actions with the Peer educators in collaboration with the Meal officer.
- Collaborates with the research nurses.
- Writes monthly reports and submits them to the Harm Reduction PM.
- Collaborates with HRPM to ensure regular and continuous delivery of services at Temeke Hospital and within the community and maskanis.
- Ensures that peer educators adhere to the protocols and guidelines while following up on beneficiaries.
- Works together with Harm Reduction CSOs and takes part in mapping of maskanis.
- Reports to HRPM on all activities, problems met, strengths and constraints.
- Respects PWID and provides care in an ethical and non-discriminatory manner
IV – Requested profile
Educational background
Diploma in Social Work or its equivalent
OR The school of life (learning-by-experience)
Professional experience
Experience in working with Key Populations / harm reduction programs for people who use drugs
OR Lived experience in drug use
