    Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the preferred provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves as a healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes for the community and the most vulnerable. As Tanzania’s largest local provider of disability and rehabilitation services, CCBRT is committed to empowering people with disabilities and their families, improving their quality of life, and ensuring access to medical and rehabilitative treatment. Our efforts include preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, and we are also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities, including obstetric fistula repairs. Our Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high-risk and emergency deliveries in the Dar es Salaam region and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

    With the expansion of our services, CCBRT is looking for a dedicated Specialist in Internal Medicine (Physician) to join our clinical team. In this role, you will help adult patients by preventing and treating internal medical conditions and some emergency medical issues. Responsibilities include taking histories of illness from patients, conducting routine physical examinations, refilling prescriptions, offering guidance on preventative care, ordering diagnostic tests, providing diagnoses, completing imaging and laboratory tests, referring to other specialists, and offering comprehensive care for patients, including managing chronic diseases like NCDs. Your clinical work will focus mainly on OPD and IPD, running both clinics and ward rounds.

    You will implement standards of care, collaborate with colleagues for treatment planning, participate in clinical audits and research in internal medicine, and conduct on-the-job training for junior doctors and nursing staff. You will also support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, contributing technical input to the holistic care of patients. Part of your IPD services duties includes being part of the on-call team, rotating on-call duties, and preparedness to work on weekends and in emergencies.

    The candidate should have an MD with a Master’s Degree (MMeD) in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution, be registered with the medical council of Tanganyika, and possess a valid license to practice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Kiswahili and English are required, along with excellent patient management and interpersonal skills, good problem-solving skills, computer literacy, basic computer proficiency, and a proactive and hands-on approach.
